Commitment to Achieving Net Zero
ODDYSEE LIMITED is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across all business operations by 2050, in alignment with UK Government policy and the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap. As a leading provider of high-quality healthcare staff across the UK, ODDYSEE recognises its responsibility to reduce its environmental impact. We are actively embedding sustainable practices across recruitment, placement, training, and back-office operations.
Our Net Zero commitment reflects our values of integrity, responsibility, and innovation, as we aim to contribute to a sustainable NHS and wider public sector. Our Carbon Reduction Plan is published on our company website and will be reviewed and updated annually.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline Year: 2025
This is our first formal calculation of greenhouse gas emissions.
Emission Scope | Source | tCO2e |
Scope 1 | Company vehicle use (leased hybrid vehicles), office heating | 8.54 |
Scope 2 | Purchased electricity (green tariff, included in Scope 1) | 0.00 |
Scope 3 | Staff commuting, PPE and tech procurement, outsourced IT | 10.26 |
Total | 18.80 |
Scope 3 emissions were estimated using a hybrid approach, combining spend-based and activity-based data across primary suppliers, technology services, and remote working policies.
Emissions Reduction Targets
ODDYSEE LIMITED aims to reduce emissions against the 2025 baseline of 18.80 tCO2e as follows:
- By 2026: 10% reduction (16.92 tCO2e)
- By 2028: 30% reduction (13.16 tCO2e)
- By 2030: 50% reduction (9.40 tCO2e)
These targets will be reviewed annually and adjusted in line with our service growth and improvements in monitoring tools. We remain committed to achieving full alignment with NHS targets for carbon neutrality across the supply chain.
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
ODDYSEE LIMITED has already implemented several measures to reduce our carbon footprint:
- Hybrid Working Model: Reduced commuting emissions by shifting staff to hybrid and remote work patterns, cutting travel-related carbon outputs by 30%.
- Digital Transition: Rolled out paperless contracts, cloud-based staff records, and fully digitised compliance systems.
- Energy-Conscious Procurement: Purchased laptops and office equipment with Energy Star certification.
- Waste Reduction Drive: Launched a recycling programme across offices and phased out single-use plastics.
- Staff Sustainability Awareness: Delivered carbon literacy training and launched car-share and cycle-to-work incentives.
Ongoing and Planned Carbon Reduction Projects
We have identified a range of short-, medium-, and long-term carbon reduction activities, including:
- Fleet Transition: Migrate from leased hybrids to fully electric vehicles by 2030, aligned with NHS fleet decarbonisation objectives.
- Supplier Engagement: Engage PPE and tech vendors in emissions reporting and prioritise low-carbon suppliers under our revised Procurement Policy.
- ISO 14001 Readiness: Develop an Environmental Management System aligned with ISO 14001 standards by 2026.
- Solar Feasibility Study: Assess the installation of solar panels at our London HQ by 2027.
- Carbon Tracking: Implement carbon monitoring software across energy, travel, and supply chain activity by 2026.
- Green Champions Network: Launch a voluntary internal team to promote and lead sustainability initiatives across departments.
Baseline Year Operational Context
During the 2025 baseline year:
- Facilities: Operated from a single administrative site in East London.
- Fleet: Operated 3 leased hybrid vehicles for regional contract liaison and site visits.
- Staffing: Maintained an average of 12 in-office staff and 35 remote workers. Staff commuting primarily involved rail and hybrid vehicle travel.
- Digital Services: Relied on cloud-based platforms for workforce management and compliance, which contribute to indirect Scope 3 emissions.
- Suppliers: Engaged with 3 core suppliers for PPE, IT equipment, and recruitment software – emissions calculated using DEFRA spend-based conversion factors.
Adjustments for Anomalies
- COVID-19 Recovery Year: Factored in a partial return to office-based working in Q2–Q4, which increased commuting emissions.
- Cold Winter Adjustment: Degree-day correction applied to reflect higher-than-average heating demand.
- Exclusions: Overseas travel and one-off marketing events have been excluded due to non-repetition and immateriality.
Declaration and Sign-Off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been developed in accordance with Procurement Policy Note 06/21, the associated Technical Standard, and the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap (2025-2030). We confirm it is accurate, complete, and reflective of our current operational footprint.
